Collection of historical models by Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci - 1953
This section was created to put the genius of Leonardo on display in order to celebrate the five hundredth birthday of this Renaissance artist and scientist of a thousand interests.
A group of experts attempted to reconstruct models of his machines by interpreting and completing his designs: this effort was extended beyond Leonardo’s actual projects to encompass his outlines of already existing works, his proposals for upgrading work equipment and tools of war, and his studies of nature, all of which was often challenging to decipher in the absence of details and critical measurements.
A curiosity: painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, scientist, literary expert, musician – Leonardo excelled at all of these disciplines during the Renaissance, but perhaps not everyone knows that in an employment letter he wrote to the court of Ludovico il Moro before coming to Milan, he put greater emphasis on his ability to build military devices than on his other abilities.
Leonardo spent two different periods in Milan - from 1482 to 1500, and from 1508 to 1514. He never opened an actual school, but his influence was felt by many young people.
