WOW Spazio Fumetto
Even Peanuts, Mickey Mouse and Dylan Dog have found a ‘home’ in Milan: WOW Spazio Fumetto is the the Comic Strip museum of illustration and animation, a unique location where the Fondazione Franco Fossati proudly hosts exhibitions, events, courses and workshops based on the Ninth Art in all its nuances.
The open-plan library shelves, the lighting and the interesting interior design, together with the variety of training opportunities and the calendar of events have all combined to make the space functional and interesting both for scholars and for visitors to the exhibitions and the permanent collections which occupy two floors of the building.
Inaugurated on April 1st, 2011 with an exhibition on comic strip publishing in Milan, the museum is the triumphant culmination of a shared passion for creativity and design. A passion that had run through the twentieth century Milan since the birth of the legendary Milanese Corriere dei Piccoli, in 1908, up to at the annual meeting with the Cartoomics trade fair, passing through generations of avid readers and great artists like Sergio Toppi and Guido Crepax.
The museum has been created thanks to the redevelopment of an industrial area that had been unused for 25 years. During the twentieth century it was the site of a busy ATM depot and the Motta factory: the lofty arch that welcomes visitors to the park entrance is the original ATM depot.
The thousand square meters of exhibition space holds a media library, a workshop space, a projection room and a cafeteria. Entrance accessible to wheelchair users.
