IMPRESSIONISM AND THE AVANTGARDE MOVEMENTS. Masterpieces from the Philadelphia Museum of Art
From 8.03.2018 to 2.09.2018
The collections of modern and impressionist art are one of the flagships of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Although provocative and experimental in their time the works by, amongst others, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee are now considered as some of the Philadephia Museum’s great treasures. The singularity of this museum lies in having amassed its own patrimony thanks to the donation of strongly influential collectors who often created their own collections in close collaboration with the artists, an element that adds enormous value to the museum's patrimony which has now also been augmented with works by young artists.
